Hearing Equipment Repairs

Hearing equipment repairs are completed free of charge to all children under the age of 18 years old within the van Asch Deaf Education Centre region. Students up to the age of 21yrs old will also be supported for as long as they remain enrolled in full-time education.

Proof of current enrolment may be requested by the Hearing Equipment Technician for any repairs belonging to students between the ages of 18-21.

Equipment requiring repair should be taken to the student’s Audiologist in the first instance.

Where this is not possible due to travelling distances, appointment availabilities etc, the equipment can be sent directly to van Asch Deaf Education Centre’s Hearing Equipment Technician.

A fully completed repair form is required to be included with all equipment sent to the Technician.

  • Please ensure that as many details as possible are completed on the form.
  • If the hearing aid has an integrated receiver, this has a serial number, so needs to be listed as a separate piece of equipment.
  • Please ensure that the equipment is well packaged within its carry case wherever possible - if you do not have a manufacturer issued carry case, please ensure that the equipment is protected within a container with bubble wrap/tissue paper. The equipment should not be able to “bounce” around in the packaging too much - if at all.
  • Using a courier service with tracking is always the most efficient and safest way to send equipment. NZ Mail Postal service has at times taken 2 weeks to arrive.
