Hagley Community College is a highly inclusive high school situated near the centre of Christchurch. This learning context provides Deaf and Hard of Hearing students a unique opportunity to belong to a community of both deaf and hearing learners. This provision caters for students Year 11 and above, and because of the special designated character of Hagley Community College, young adult and adult learners are welcomed and fully included in the programmes. This fits perfectly with our ability to provide deaf education up to 21 years old. Hard of hearing and deaf students enrolled at van Asch School can access a range of engaging NZQA courses offered at Hagley Community College. Many students are supported by specialist staff in these classes and in our deaf satellite class on this campus.
