NSZL for families, mentors/tutors
The van Asch Deaf Education Centre school Prize Giving was held Wednesday night 13 December. It was supported by whanau and Centre staff. The evening was hosted by two of our students, Thomas McLiskey and Henry Tangiwai Scott who were our MCs. Thanks to our guest speaker Jared Flitcroft.
A great evening of celebration of the achievements of our students.
Special thanks to all the staff who helped behind the scenes preparing for the evening - programme design and publication, IT and online link set up, flowers, engraving of awards, preparation of items and catering.
EIC families and staff had a great day at the Canterbury A&P Show on Wednesday. We had families from all our different session days attending. We were so fortunate that the weather was perfect! Clear sunny skies with a cool breeze. We saw many farm animals. A highlight was the VERY brand new lambs that some of us got to see being born. Once again we were able to enjoy the facilities of the Sheep Exhibitors Club which had picnic tables and a sand pit where we could enjoy our morning tea/early lunch. Then it was on to the petting farm. This year this area was very spacious and we were able to spend as long as we wanted petting all sorts of farm animals. I think the favourites were the rabbits and the lambs. Families then went their own way to explore other areas of the show or head home. I think some may have enjoyed some of the special treats on offer!
