There have been numerous advances in technology over the years from the first group hearing aid in 1936 to behind the ear hearing aids and cochlear implants currently worn by students. Computers were introduced in the 1980s and have changed considerably to tablets, smartphones and other devices. Speech Language and Audiological equipment have become much more user friendly over time. Communication assistive devices for deaf such as the TTY (Teletypewriter) were once used widely and have changed to more accessible apps or programmes on smaller devices.
